Time Marches On

I'm a bit older now, obviously.

Today's plans? Well-fought board games, good friends, Champagne, and hors d'oeuvre.

And, no, I'd rather not talk about those sea-green candles, okay?

Happy birthday! Let the champagne flow. May the killer Scrabble gods be with you. What I noticed first in the picture was not the candles but your hands. Very expressive!

No apologies, but I am guessing you will take full credit for the riotous braided rug and baby's red booties. You share the day with my brother. Many happy returns of the day. GT

Let's talk about the wonderful rag rug instead. Hope it's a great day.

Sending mucho happiness your way. Light those candles; they're better burning...but just at one end. Which board games? Please tell us later, after your various champagne fueled victories.

Happy Birthday, and I imagine those candles to be a wonderfully fragrant bayberry bringing back wonderful childhood memories!

Bonne Fête from bilingual Canada! Avocado green candles? Obviously a child of the 60s. If the candles were green, the furniture must have been "colonial," and the flowers were likely plastic. Don't cringe, it was okay then! The taste you display now more than makes up for the "sins" of the father/ mother. Let's see. Judging by your age in the photos, the stylistic references, and the degradation of the Kodachrome color, you must in your late 40s. But we'll deduct 5 years for vanity and correction of error and arrive at...perhaps 43? No secrets on the Internet, right? Many happy and swellegant returns of the day! Hope your birthday cake is as delectable as one from Fauchon served on old Sèvres (with Dom Perignon served in Lalique flutes)!

Happy Birthday :-) I must say -we could have been brothers or at least cousins when we were young - we should do a side by side comparison of our childhood pictures! haha
Hope you had a marvlous evening -sounds like you had one planned!

Have a wonderful birthday. Your blog gives so much enjoyment, and I look for your entries each day. I am still pondering Coco Chanel's "after midnight" remarks.

P.S. The rug caught my eye immediately. They aren't that easy to make. I read once of how you have to handle the tension in the weaving to keep the rug from buckling up as an end product. Isn't it wonderful?

Thanks for the photo! I am a recent follower of your blog on my iPhone so information requiring an Adobe Reader is not always available. I had thought you were a man, but a friend said you were a woman - not that it really makes any difference! After all, an aesthete could be a woman, no? In any case I thoroughly enjoy your blog!
