Well Said: Anita Loos

"I've had my best times when trailing a Mainbocher evening gown across a sawdust floor. I've always loved high style in low company."

So said Anita Loos (1888-1981), best-dressed writer and wit and author of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."

  3. I always find that when you look deep into them - those so called "high style" people are verrrry low rent. Too much money, no morals and worst of all, no taste! LOL

  4. Well said indeed. I always say, better overdressed, than underdressed to elevate standards instead of lowering them.

    Cheers,

  7. A dear friend has a related "Well Said" phrase that is almost as much of a truism: "I adore vulgarity. I can't abide commoness".
